Saint Festus, Proclus, and Sosius, deacons; Desiderius, reader; and Eutychius and Acutius, laymen, at Pozzuoli (305)
Commemorated April 21
Companions of saint Januarius who suffered about the year 305 during the persecution ordered by the emperor Diocletian (284-305).
Troparion · General Menaion Tone 1
Through the sufferings of Thy saints which they did endure for Thy sake, be moved, O Lord, and all our infirmities cure, Thou, O Lover of man, we implore Thee.
Kontakion Tone 3
Ye were adorned with the anointing of the priesthood
and the blood of martyrdom,
O glorious Januarius and Theodore,
and ye shine forth everywhere,
dancing in the highest,
and look down upon us,
who have come to your temple and unceasingly cry out therein:
Preserve us all, entreating God Who loveth mankind!
