Macedonian Orthodox Church – Ohrid Archbishopric

Archbishop of Ohrid and Macedonia · Skopje · est. 2022

An autocephalous Orthodox Church recognised in 2022; keeps the Old (Julian) Calendar.

Widely recognized

The Macedonian Orthodox Church – Ohrid Archbishopric received recognition of its autocephaly in 2022 (its canonical status restored in communion through the Serbian and Ecumenical Patriarchates). It keeps the Old (Julian) Calendar — the Nativity is observed on 7 January civil. Its primate is the Archbishop of Ohrid and Macedonia, seated in Skopje. The Ecumenical Patriarchate restored communion under the name 'Archbishopric of Ohrid'; the autocephaly itself was granted by the Serbian Church and is not yet acknowledged pan-Orthodox.
