Church of Greece

The Church of Greece is the autocephalous Orthodox Church covering most of the territory of modern Greece, granted autocephaly by the Ecumenical Patriarchate in 1850. It is governed by its Holy Synod under the Archbishop of Athens and All Greece. The dioceses of the 'New Lands' in northern Greece remain canonically under the Ecumenical Patriarchate while administered by the Church of Greece. It follows the New (Revised Julian) Calendar.
