One of the most ancient autocephalous Churches, self-governing since the Council of Ephesus (431).

The Church of Cyprus is one of the oldest autocephalous Orthodox Churches, its independence affirmed by the Third Ecumenical Council at Ephesus in 431. Founded by the Apostles Paul and Barnabas, it is headed by the Archbishop of Nova Justiniana and All Cyprus, seated in Nicosia. It follows the New (Revised Julian) Calendar.
